The name of Reg Jans drives me to this forum and I wonder if we can have a look on the coming last important ceremony of the 65th anniversary of the Battle of the Ardennes, scheduled mid December. As you probably know te belgian minister of defense wants to close 22 barracks to use them as jails. The Barrack 1 A in Bastogne, where general McAuliffe had established his Hqs during the Battle of the Bulge, is concerned. These memorial place must be preserved at all costs and the Nuts City is defending these sacred place where the 101st Air Borne has fermly fought to maintain this key position to allow others divisions to organize the retreat of german units. Petitions are on the way and we have to counter this project to preserve the Cave McAuliffe and consider it as a memorrial for future generations. _________________ The best thing to come out of the World War II is the friends that I have made during my two and a half years service at the 12th Army Group as officer translater, and the many others I met on the way since the war ended. |
